Where can I find out who is broadcasting the NFL post season games?

I only upgraded to digital cable to get the NFL network for those games that weren't going to be broadcast on any other station, and I want to downgrade back to my regular cable - this crap is expensive, and I don't watch any of it. Does anybody know for certain that the post season games are going to be broadcast on regular channels?

Yes, they will be broadcast on FOX (NFC) and CBS (AFC).

Check on tvguide.com, they have a grid detailing what will be on what channel and when. Just look for the day and time of the game(s) and it will show you what channel the game will be on, if it's being aired nationally.
All playoff games are on free TV, dont turn off the HD!

Make sure you are in front of the TV this year, and watch those dominating Patriots run the table.
www.nfl.com
You can always check out ESPN. They will show the upcoming game, the kickoff time and the station it will be on. I added a link so you have it for other games

Do you truly believe the Pats are the only NFL team that has ever stolen other teams' defensive

I keep on hearing about this "Spygate" situation. Do you really, truly, honestly believe that the Patriots are the only team in the history of the NFL that has ever video taped other teams to learn their call signs? Yes, I know they are the only team that got caught, but does it make all the other teams as "innocent" as many people believe?

Do you truly believe the Pats are the only NFL team that has ever stolen other teams' defensive signs?nba draft

No. Several coaches (Jimmy Johnson, John Madden, Bill Parcells) have said that getting to the opponets signals is crucial. Same said by QB's such as Joe Thiesmann, Phil Simms, Boomer Esiason. Its all part of the game. Its that Bilichick was caught.

Do you truly believe the Pats are the only NFL team that has ever stolen other teams' defensive signs?ncaa ,nba teams

No, but obviously dumb enough to get caught.
No...The haters would love to convince everyone of that though...
Why of course not but they are the only idiots to get caught !
No.....Pats are getting caught because people are snitching on them.
I'm sure they are not the only ones but they where stupid enough to get caught.
Yes because they are the only type of team that would do it.

They cant even cheat right without getting caught....
I believe they are the only ones arrogant enough to think they can do it with impunity - using their same methodology against former assistants.

And I do not believe EVERYONE does it - and ask for proof, evidence! Tony Dungy, Lovie, Cowher - proof - before you smear everyone. Some do, some don't - the Pats are too arrogant,
No. Try telling the judge that everyone else does it the next time you get a speeding ticket.
Every team does it...the Patriots were the dumb ones to get caught...I mean it was against the team that is coached by a former Patriot staff member who knew how they taped...it was just dumb.
The way they got caught is the reason most people hate the Patriots, they were so blatant about it, it just screamed arrogance.
The Commish stated on Saturday that this practice was prevelent throughout the league and wanted to send a STRONG MESSAGE for this conduct to cease.

Bill Parcells stated that if an NFL Coach did not take measures to conceal his calls, he's an idiot.

PS- A GIANTS FAN
No I don't truly believe that but they are the ones who got caught. So until someone else gets caught then every fan, sports analyst and anyone who talks about it can shut up. They got caught, now deal with it.
no but still,

you cant cheat, then call yourselves the best ever,

thats what set them apart.
absolutely not.
Haha don't be silly. All teams do it, to what extent is what varies. The Pats were just suckers for getting caught, but stealing signs is so prevalent in the NFL that the confiscated video showed one of the Jets coordinators waving to the camera. Ya, it's that common. Former Patriot assistant coach(?)defensive coordinator(?) Eric Magnali just had beef with the organization and tattled.

Tough luck on New England's part, but even tougher was their superbowl demise. Nonetheless, this season - though they'll all they you is completely meaningless - has been one of the greatest in the history of football.

And the Giants, one of the greatest stories.
Do you really, truly, honestly believe it matters? The NFL sent out a memo just ONE WEEK before the Patriots taped the Jets specifically saying not to do it. N.E. was so arrogant they said to the league "Yeah, whatever. Tell that to teams that have to listen to you. We'll let you know when WE don't feel like taping teams anymore." They went out and did it right away against a coach that would know they were doing it which was the same as giving the league the finger. And even after all of that the league still let them off easy. Now there are allegations that they snuck someone in to tape the Rams final walk through before the Super Bowl. You gonna try to tell us everyone does that to? Don't think so. Isn't it funny how all 32 teams are supposedly equally guilty but somehow it's just the Pats that seem to keep getting caught? Are they THAT much dumber than every other team in the league?
I'm sure there are plenty of teams out there who have done it. The only thing is the Pats got caught. I honestly don't think it's a big deal anyway.
Nah, not really. Not when you consider that the point of the game is to gameplan against what you expect the other team to do. But I guess if the Pats took it to a new level that is considered unacceptable, then that's pretty much cheating. I'm not too interested with that topic though. I'm replaying that final Giants drive capped off by the Burress touchdown over %26amp; over in my head. That's much more interesting!

Do you guys notice West Virginia football players are thugs in the NFL?

Pacman Jones, Chris Henry, and Quincy Wilson all went to West Virginia and all of them been arrested in the NFL. Im not saying that West Virginia is Thug University. However, this is so weird that for whatever reason. Also, the fact that these guys are making millions of dollars but they do immature dumb stuff while guys would be happy to take their roster's spot.

As a die hard WVU fan, yes we have noticed it and Pacman Jones and Chris Henry were total thugs when they were here too, but Coach Rod wouldnt do nothin about it....I dont think we'll have that problem anymore with Coach Stewart! There are guys that would be happy to take their spot for half the money these idiots are making and I think they should all be kicked out of the NFL and put in jail where they deserve to be....not just these three, but any player who is arrested for a violent crime or drug offense.

Do you guys notice West Virginia football players are thugs in the NFL?nba 2k8 ,nba teams

They were all there around the same time weren't they? I'm sure the immature thuggish antics of 1 of them fueled the others to doing even more stupid thuggish things. When they realized that they were getting away with it, they continued to do it. Now in the NFL with all the spotlights on them, they're finally getting caught, and hopefully booted.
yes
Some of them have been stupid, but some good players aren't doing the same things. Marc Bulger, for instance, is very unlikely to ever get arrested. But it's still a good point, they do seem to be the Bengals of the NCAA.
yes but people dont really care because they are like celebs
You know what they say, "if your gonna be dumb, you better be tough".

How should someone go about trying to become and NFL Scout?

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice to give to me if I wanted to try and become an NFL Scout. I know my stuff, Im not worried about that. I just need to find out how to become a Scout. Thanks!

How should someone go about trying to become and NFL Scout?nba champions

Well from what I read most scouts are former players and coaches.

Although I've never been a scout in my life if I wanted to be a scout I would probably go to a localcollegeor highschool and ask about the job and perhaps intern as an assistant to a scout. This way you learn the ropes of scouting, how the player foot work is, how he/she runs or how he or show reacts on the field.

I'm sure that there is alot of traveling and all that.

I wish you good luck.

if you have a local school you know of that has some unknown players, make a tape of maybe the 3 best guys (like 5 minute segments or so about each players highlights) and send that and if thecollegesees it and likes it they may write your name down and if you do it again with a different school or players you may get a scouting position. also going tocollegeand getting an intership as like a waterboy on the team can get you that kind of position-if you tell the coach about a good DE at your former HS and he looks in and agrees and you do it a few times you may get it.

also-connections help alot-like with being an intern.

Here in Philly we are waiting for a PROFESSIONAL wide receiver to be acquired. Plus, I am thinking about how to eviscerate the management when the Eagles won't be able to buy a touchdown next season. I got a baaaaaaaaad feeling about this one.

The Phillies aren't on my radar as I'm an old Philadelphia Athletics fan who follows them even in Oakland, and I never liked basketball. All I have here are the Eagles, Flyers, and annual disappointments.

Absolutely no comparison to the real deal. Then after the draft which I treat like the Superbowl, because I know that's It until preseason. What does it mean in NFL football if someone is dropped to waivers or picked up off of waivers?

If someone is dropped from a team and they are a free agent, what is the difference between that person and a person that was never drafted into the NFL? What do you have to do to be eligible to play for a team in the NFL?

What does it mean in NFL football if someone is dropped to waivers or picked up off of waivers?nba draft picks

some team shold open tryouts, a couple of walk-ons have made it to the NFL, usually talented athletes who did not go tocollegeor dropped out and went undrafted

drafted just means that no other team is allowed to talk to you or try to sign you for a full year; doesn't mean that you made the team at all

waivers I am not that sure about: I do know there is a certain time period after which the original team can sign the player again (if no other team has picked up the waiver)

What does it mean in NFL football if someone is dropped to waivers or picked up off of waivers?nba playoffs ,nba teams

If a player is a free agent, then he can negotiate for another contract with any team. If he's on waivers, then in order for another team to get him, they have to get him at whatever his contract was with the team that cut him.

There is no difference between a free agent and an undrafted player. The only thing signficant is the free agent has proven what he can do in the NFL while the undrafted one isn't.

The only thing you have to do to be elligible is be 3 years out of high school.

What do you think the reason is that the most popular sport in America is NFL football?

Being a football fan is a year 'round job. NFL draft, schedual, preseason and post season and trade seasons are all huge, and get more talk than any other sport. What appeal does it have over baseball, basketball, and Nascar?

The contact, the excitment. You look at baseball, they play 162 games. Basketball and hockey are 82. Football is only 16 games and played on Sunday. It seems to be more of a one day festival.

What do you think the reason is that the most popular sport in America is NFL football?nba all star ,nba teams

I would say that Baseball is cuz it's genuinely American and happens ober the longest span. Nascar never appeals to anyone in the North, and basketball is kind of a more "our generation" sport. So I think baseball and football can reach out to our elders.
Look at the Romans, its the Gladitorial aspect. Organized Combat in an Arena with Hot Dogs,Pizza and Ice Cold Budwieser. We didnt invent Football, we made a legitimate sport of humans destroying themselves.

Why there is not a investigation for steroids and performance-enhancing drugs for the NFL?

Now that they are done with the investigation on baseball, are they going to investigate the NFL and others sports?

Why there is not a investigation for steroids and performance-enhancing drugs for the NFL?nba 08

Are there steroids in the NFL? Most definitely.

But they have had one of the toughest testing and punishment rules in professional sports. It's funny that baseball has a greater incident of steroid use than football.

Most sports take on the issue of HGH and steroids. Baseball is the only sport that chose to stick their heads in the sand rather than deal with it. Why? Because they saw more money coming in with more homers getting hit and more runs being scored. It really turned me off during the last strike when it was all about the money - to the point of not having a world series - and nothing about what matters. And then instead of looking out for the best interests of the young guys that come into the baseball system, MLB and the players assoc all but encouraged the use of HGH and steroids! And the owners have no halo, either!

For years I have been a fan of baseball, but now? I shake my head in disgust after reading that Mitchell report. Even so - I can reason more for NFL players to use HGH and steroids than MLB players. In the case of baseball, it is all about the money. . .

Why there is not a investigation for steroids and performance-enhancing drugs for the NFL?nba finals ,nba teams

Because people like to pretend that there isnt a problem in the NFL. when there has actually been a big problem since the '80s
they aren't done with the investigation in baseball... it's just starting... football has its own problems and they are testing...
Most NFL players don't use illegal substances druing the season, they take them during the off season when they are really training so they are not subject to the policies

This is just my opinion
the nfl has the toughest steroid program of the major sports in America because of the clear advantage it would bring to the user...the NFL players are not on list at the steroid bust in Albany and Florida hgh clinics....and if they were they would actually be suspended, unlike mlb
football has had a policy in place for quite some time already unlike baseball. they have been testing in football for many years and they dont have to have an outside contractor come in because they have never let it get out of hand

from an article at nfl.com

Burress fired the football into the stands, an act that carries an automatic $2,500 fine from the NFL. Burress should be on the lookout for a letter from the NFL this week. And he won't mind one bit for spending on what might be the biggest catch of his NFL career.

The fine (assumed correct by the first poster) would be worth it to the player for the good relations he would build with the fans.

Would definately get it back in longer term value, like a coach/manager who gets fined for arguing with the refs.
I didn't know there WAS a fine, other than paying for the cost of the football.

Why would the NFL fine any player giving a memento to their fans? - doesn't make any sense.
There is none

Is it impossible to become an NFL kicker if I have never played in college?

I am 18 years old, I played football in highschool, but was not a kicker. ThecollegeI attend does not have a football team, however in practice on my own I have been hitting 60 yard field goals nearly every time. I played soccer for years and I believe I have a very good leg. How elite do I have to be to get considered for an NFL team, in your opinion?

Is it impossible to become an NFL kicker if I have never played in college?nba ballers

I would say keep on practicing and when you are a junior (you're not eligible for the draft until then), find out what you need to do to get into the NFL draft. You need to find a way to work out for a team and show what you have got.

Keep in mind though, there is a big difference between kicking a ball off a tee with no one else around and making a 60 yard field goal versus someone else holding it and you have to make sure it goes high enough to clear 20 players that are 5 yards away from you with the game on the line.

Is it impossible to become an NFL kicker if I have never played in college?nba draft lottery ,nba teams

If you are serious about playing in the NFL..Transfer to acollegenext year that has a football team and trying to make the team as a kicker....
That is probably the position in the NFL that over the years has had the most people come in and be succesful with little or no football experience if you have a strong and accurate leg there are teams that will give you a shot to prove it.
Transfer
keep on pushin and dont let no one bring you down. K is probbally the only position that you can play while bein away from the game for multiple years. but still nailing 60 yards with out any pressure is nothing but try kicking a 30 yarder with the game on the line and 50 players relying on you.
60 yarders are different in a game but 60 yards is 60 yards no matter what league
The Eagles have a new punter, that never payed an Amreican football game before. He's pretty good too. Check him out.
walk on
anything is possible!!! u could be one try out away from the league, but it takes more than a 60 yarder as impressive as that is. the nfl is usually close games week in and week out so a great not average kicker is a premium! good luck with it, u just never know!

How many people here don't have the NFL network? I think the number they are putting out is exa

I believe most people have Direct-TV rather than cable. And those with cable subscribe to the premium packages so they get it. I feel most people get the NFL Network.

I think you're way off in believing that more people have DirecTV than cable.

As of the end of 2006, there were 16.1 million subscribers to DirecTV. Given that you have 300 million people, I'd venture a guess that there are more than 16 million cable subscribers, most of whom don't have the NFL Network. Check the numbers. Time Warner alone has 13.4 million subscribers, and they're only one of many cable companies not carrying the NFL Network.

#1: There are a lot of people out there who aren't as priveldged as you to have cable OR sattelite.

#2: of the cable / sattelite customers, they say only like 20% of them have satellite DirectTV or Dish.

#3: Most cable companies don't even offer NFL network, even if you pay extra.

#4: Supposedly, less than 30% have NFL network.

#5: Does it really matter? If people thought itwas that important they'd have it.

#6: For the people who want to whine that they don't get NFL network, for the 3 or 4 games a year that they might want to watch. Go to the bar.
I don't get it here in NYC. But its also very few games so I don't really even care that much
Uh...Its not on most cable...It is on satellite...Thats their way of making you get satellite TV
I have DISH Network .....and its on there regular package ~!
You think more people have direct tv than cable? Thats pretty funny.
i dont have it. no exageration.
I don't and I love football. I just didn't feel like spending the extra money when I can see 99% free.
I don't have it but I'm going to get it maybe!
No, you're totally wrong. Maybe you live in some rich-person fantasy world where everybody has a satellite dish. Out of 20 people I know who want to watch the game, only 2 of them are able to. Most cable companies don't carry NFL Network (and why should they, the only reason to even carry it would be for one game a year in most home markets). It's a bunch of bull that the NFL is doing this. 2/3 of homes in America are not going to be able to watch one of the best games of the year involving 2 teams with large fan-bases. Screw you NFL!
i don't*******************8
The cable provider I have, does not even offer the NFL network, and Direct-TV is out of the question, as I live near powerlines, and when I did try it, there was major interference, no one on my street can use satellite tv at all... the NFL network has screwed us out of many good games....

I have friends in Austin Texas, they can't get the NFL network either, as their cable provider does not offer it ... in fact, no one in the Austin area can get it...
First off, standard cable subscribers outnumber satellite by something close to 2 to 1, maybe more. Second, many cable companies don't even OFFER the NFL Network, never mind the ones that do. Why would anyone actually pay for the NFL Network when all you get is 5-6 regular season games?
I don't have it either, I hope they don't put more games on there.
I get the NFL network at my house. I have Cox Cable. I pay like 5 extra bucks a month for the sports tier.
i have Time Warner Cable and it is not offered on any package.
Yeah, It sucks, I don't have NFL network and the best game will be on there this week. I have cable and my cable company does not offer NFL network. I think it should be broadcast on regular television so all fans can watch the Cowboys and Greenbay this week.
I don't have it and I got comcast. I refuse to pay for it also. I got one of the top packages for comcast and they still don't offer it.

Good luck!!

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
nfl network is not carried on my cable premium packages. it is strictly available through sattelite. tvbythenumbers.com states that more than twice as many people subscribe to cable than sattelite. 30 million compared to nearly 70 million. That is 40 million people that are put out by the NFL.
I dont have direct TV and I wont get it..Satallite might be cheaper, but it sucks. I also think it sucks that we wont get the game.
I've got NFL Network, but only because I pay GD Comcast $5.00 extra a month. I think the whole deal blows.
Michael, You don't need a satelite. Some cable companies are carrying it. I actually have it on cable, not direct tv. Channel 37, right after the ESPN and Fox Sports channels. I don't pay any extra for it. I get it with the same package that ESPN, TNT, TBS and all that crap comes with.
I have digital cable, and I don't get NFL network.
I have basic cable. No NFL network, which sucks because they have games on there now.
I have cable. It comes with our basic package.
dont have it, cant get it satellite dosent work well in my area not to mention how pissed id be to have satelite and not be able to see the game because the weather is bad, that would make me even madder about it than i already am, the nfl is bending fans over for more money and what do they give us...dispicable cheaters to watch instead of good games like cowboys, packers
I just have expanded basic cable- I have Netflicks so I really don't need or want the extra movie channels.
I dont )= I have basic cable, but cant afford any upgrades. Priorities...
I dont know too many people with Direct-Tv. most of the people I know, including myself have cable. I get the HD Service but I haven't subscribed to the nfl network yet.
no.. most people have cable. Its not even close

What is the best run franchise in the NFL?

I think it's the Indianpolis Colts or the New England Patriots. The Colts have been the model of consistancy, plus even though they have been plagued with injuries this season, they are still having an excellent season. The Patriots are the best team in the NFL at acquiring pieces that fit.

What is the best run franchise in the NFL?fan gear

It has to be the New England Patriots as of the turn of the century (2000 - 2007). Multiple Super Bowl victories and division championships. The team continues to win despite constant turnover in roster and they continue to find diamonds in the free agent market. Any team that can tame Randy Moss has my vote.

Pats from 00-07. look how much there roster changed. But they still keep winning. Plus they are going undeafeted.

What team will sign Michael Vick when he returns to the NFL in the 2009 season?

lets get real people Vick will be back in the NFL since well the NFL makes a lot of money off this man in Jersey sales, Ticket Sales, and Endorsements. What team do you think will sign Vick?

A top 5 worst team thats in need of a QB or kick returner.

What team will sign Michael Vick when he returns to the NFL in the 2009 season?nba records ,nba teams

The CFL might take him.
To be completely honest i don't see him playing in the NFL again ,what team in their right mind would want him , granted he paid his debt to society but what owner wants a player with that Baggage . Atlanta may be the only team that would probly take him other than that i dont see it happening.
probably the Oakland Raiders, lol
it depends on how good he is when he comes back..I would see him go back to the falcons if they haven t fixed their quarterback issues but i think they want to rebuild their franchise, besides the falcons your closest bet would be a team that bases its offense on rushing...if troy smith doesn t blossom by then i see vick playing for the ravens or oakland.
the jets, thats if they dont draft a qb, I also think the cardinals look like a vick team.
Oakland Raiders as a backup QB or second WR. Usually guys with character issues land there.
maybe no one, he'll have to get himself in shape and there's no way you can replicate game situations in prison. if a team does take a shot at him he'll likely not play until sometime after the 09 season starts, it will time time to readjust and get into game shape.
the team that need a QB the worst***********
I hope he is banned from the NFL for life, he is not a man, I would want a child to look up to, and emulate. He is a disgrace to the human race.
I honestly don't know who would sign him after all this, but if anyone does I think it will be as a running back who can double as a threat to pass. If you've ever seen Mike Vick in person he's not a very big guy. He's going to have to work extremely hard to stay in shape because prisons don't exactly have the same equipment as an NFL team, but even assuming his body stays close to the same condition, mentally he won't be as sharp. I don't see him ever getting back to the level he once was at.
probably no team, everybody hates Michael Vick
I don't think any team out there is desperate enough to want to be associated with Michael Vick, regardless of his playing capability. Personally, I think that Michael Vick should only be fed a stale slice of bread and a gallon of scalding hot water per day while he's in jail. Once he gets out of jail, Vick will probably best qualified for performing ballet solos. If Vick is real lucky, he might find a way to get on that dumb show called Dancing with the Stars, for all the 'has been, washed up people' that want their face on the t.v. screen again for the first time in twenty years. But no one is likely to pay Vick to perform any kind of service for them because Mike got caught doing inhumane things that make him untrustworthy.
that is assuming that Roger Goddell doesn't ban him from the NFL all together. He wont play QB maybe some team Will give him a chance at some other position. A team like the raiders, Bengals or cowboys are willing to take chances and give second chances only players with questionable character.
It may actually be 2010 or later when he gets out. But he is not completely out of the question of returning to the falcons. Remember is contract is on hold while he had been suspended. Wait until things shake out.
I don't know where you get your information but nobody has said he's returning to the NFL in 2009. In fact, he will most likely miss all of the 2009 season. Remember, he still has yet to face state charges from the Commonwealth of Virginia and they are not kind to people who did what he did from what I've heard. He also may face a suspension handed down from the league so there's no saying when or if he'll even be back. That's also not taking into account whether he'll take care of his body behind bars or not. If he gets fat and is not in decent shape, nobody will want him anyway. I don't think people are going be rushing out to buy his jersey either and his endorsement days are long over even if he were to return. I don't know who or where you get your information from but you might want to consider a different source.
The Oakland Raiders.
there is no guarantee that will happen and i think michael vick's football days may be over
You don't seem to understand - VICK IS NEVER COMING BACK TO THE NFL!
any respectable team wouldn't sign him
Oakland
who knows.

any team could need a qb by then.

i hope he does come back.
Vick was a great QB, but i don't see any teams picking him up in 2010. maybe Tampa bay might great him or the outlaws of football Oakland!!
i think he'll go to the cfl

Why is there such a scarcity of quality quarterbacks in the NFL?

Besides Payton Manning; to have Matt Hasselbeck, Eli Manning, Rex Grossman, and Byron Leftwich, considered the "elite" QBs of the NFL is rather pathetic. Carson Palmer hasn't even been in the NFL longer than he was incollegeand he's a "legend" in Cincinnati and surrounding states already. That to me would be a fool's ideology to the termination of the suffering of the beleaguered franchise, and tantamount to lunacy. Your opinions please.

Why is there such a scarcity of quality quarterbacks in the NFL?basketball shoes

I love to see it when a qb can air it out. What I hate is how the qb position is turning into another running back. Throw the damn ball, don't hold on to it yourself. Those that can throw are the high quality qb. They can rely on their arm, not their legs.

Why is there such a scarcity of quality quarterbacks in the NFL?nba champions ,nba teams

Rex Grossman proved it this week. He's no joke. He's got great promise. Looked great against Seattle!! Report It

is this your personal opinion or something you read? Carson Palmer and the Bengals are arguably the best team right now but who ever said he was a "legend" good yes, legend, not yet. The problem with the QB position is that the leagues turns it's players and coaches over so quickly, it stunts the growth of the QB. It is the hardest position in the league to learn and can take 5-7 years in some cases. never underestimate a 2nd stringer, some of them play with the first team all wek and are ready to take over any time, any place.
i hate Rex Grossman..he is a joke..did you see his damn interception..he is lucky his defense bailed him out..this is what happens when he actually plays a good team..

the QB position is very reliant on the players around him, and more so now than ever...bad offensive line?..they won't do so well..don't have a good RB?..have to throw too often..not going to win that often..horrible defense? you have the pressure of scoring each drive
As soon as they allow hispanics and asians to play football in schools and in youth football. This way you increase the number of good players in NFL.
Here's the deal. All these young punk quarterbacks are getting paid too much money, they haven't proven a thing yet. These guys only care about getting a paycheck, not learning the roles and leadership they need to be a succesful qb. Brad Johnson, statistically, is the best quarterback out there, just look at his career completion rate. He's not the best athletically, but he's smart with the ball. One other thing to look at is he never has had a huge contract to blow his ego up. Too much money given to these kids is the biggest mistake a franchise can make!
Don't know why, but one reason is because the NFL is very difficult. Defenses are tough, and the game is fast and hard. There are a few though. You forgot a few decent ones. Here's how I'd rank them:

Peyton Manning

Tom Brady

Carson Palmer (great promise)

Matt Hasselbeck

Trent Green (excellent QB)

Ben Roethlisberger

Eli Manning (great promise)

Rex Grossman (great promise)

Drew Brees

Byron Leftwich (maybe getting better)

Jake Delhomme (Mr. Clutch)

Philip Rivers (shows great promise)

Daunte Culpepper (questionable)

Jake Plummer (questionable)

Michael Vick (questionable)

Chad Pennington (questionable)

Brett Favre (past his prime, but one of the all-time greats)

Brad Johnson (questionable %26amp; past his prime, but still tough and smart)

Chris Simms (promising...getting better...maybe)

David Carr (questionable)

Marc Bulger (questionable)

Kurt Warner (past his prime)
A good line and many other factors makes a good QB
There really isn't if you take the time to make a list. It may seem this way because of the ridiculous depth at running back and wide reciever. I wouldn't consider Grossman and Leftwich among the elite just yet. By the way, you forgot a few guys on your list there. How about Brady, Delhomme, Plummer, McNabb,

and Roethlisberger?
Today, the elite QB's in the NFL are Manning, McNabb, Brady and Farve. Peyton Manning is, well, Peyton Manning. Donovan McNabb is one of the most efficient QB's in NFL history. Tom Brady has three more Super Bowl rings than most quarterbacks will ever get. Brett Farve may have just surpassed Dan Marino as the all-time greatest QB today. Trent Green, Kurt Warner, and Marc Bulger are up there too.

Manning the younger has yet to prove himself in the playoffs or set some record, Hasslebeck's numbers are bloated because of %26lt;sarcasm%26gt;that guy who looks like Tiki Barber%26lt;/sarcasm%26gt; in his backfield, and Byron Leftwich and Rex Grossman aren't exactly elite by anyone's definition. Carson Palmer is getting there. He just needs another monster season and a decent playoff showing.
Because Dan Marino doesn't play anymore. :]
the qb's are as good as ever.
Rex Grossman among the elite? Can i get some of what you're smoking?

Which is a better way to build an NFL franchise?

There are a number of teams in the NFL that I feel never learn. They draft the #1 quarterback with the expectation that he will turn the franchise around solely on his own ability.

Here is the question:

Would it not be better to draft a solid offensive line first before going after a #1 quarterback? You put five great o-linemen and a TE who can block and I feel like almost any quarterback will look good in the position. Granted, you need more picks for this, but I feel like the O-line is overlooked far too often by franchises that are terrible every year. Notably, the Cardinals, Raiders, and Browns fail to win games. James thought he would have a great season at Arizona, but he didn't realise what a difference it makes to run for a team like Indianapolis which has a great O-line. So,

Draft a great QB or draft a great O-line?

Which is a better way to build an NFL franchise?nba news

great o-line...you see all the great teams and they have a solid o-line. san diego, new england, indy, chicago, denver, and seattle all have great o-lines. look at teams like arizona, oakland, detroit, houston, cleveland, and miami dont have great o-lines and look at their records. great o-lines protect not only the quarterback but also the running back and provide time for the quarterback to get into rythmn and find his receivers or for the running back to find the holes to burst through.

Which is a better way to build an NFL franchise?nba all star game ,nba teams

Despite what people may say but u need a Great O line, because they can give him the time that QB needs to hopefully find an open man. You dont need to be a great QB to win a superbowl. Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, hell, Rex Grossman Led his team too the superbowl. eventhough they had good defenses, They had Outstanding Offensive lines. and all the QBs had to do was manage the game. Also a good O line opens up the running game which would help any QB develop
Go defense. There have been many super bowl teams that had great defenses and a good offense. O-line can be put together with free agency and a few draft picks.
Draft the offensive line first. Only draft quarterback if you're damn certain that he'll be protected. David Carr (#1 overall in 2002) is the classic example of this: he never had an O-line in Houston. Meanwhile, Orlando Pace (#1 overall in '97) anchors an O-line that's been to two Super Bowls and was behind one of the better offenses in the NFL in St. Louis. The Browns got lucky this year in that they were able to get both.
In that time that you are building an O Line their rookie contracts will expire by the time you draft the QB. Loo at Vince Young, his O Line is mediocre and single handedly turned around the franchise in one season from very bad to ok.

I say you draft that QB if they are definitely worth it. Joe Thomas will not make you win championships, a good QB will though. I say just dont neglect your O line...
I agree. The Browns drafted Joe Thomas to reverse this stupid trend. Tim Couch could have been functional, but the brain trust didn't surround him with any O-line help. This same stupidity reigned supreme in the mid 1980's when Bernie Kosar, a guy with no speed but Peyton Manning's brain, got the tar beat out of him, because the Browns refused to replenish the O-line. Now we have Steinbach, Thomas, and hopefully, later this year, LeCharles Bentley.

However, once you get two studs in the first round on o-line, then you can fill in the rest with late round picks or free agent pickups
Personally, I would start with defense because they could keep you in games . Look at when Baltimore won the Super Bowl a few years back when the defense carried the team. As for the offense, yes build the line but not all at once, get a couple key lineman add some skill players and fill in the gap that way.
well if the qb is great without a great line then i would definitely choose the great qb. if the qb was great without the help of a line then a line could be built around his greatness to make him the best
Good point. Look at what Eric Mangini did with the New York Jets in his first season. He took a 4-12 team who had no idea what their QB situation was going to be, to a 10-6 playoff team in his first year. If you're talking about building a Franchise, it will take a few years. Mangini started by using his two first round picks to draft D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold. He trusted that he could rely on the leadership of his veteran QB in Chad Pennington to produce good offense with a rebuilt line as opposed to some unproven rookie with a bad line. His next step was to get a shut-down corner on defense, which he got this year. Also, with Curtis Martin gone from the NFL, he went out and got himself a solid running back in Thomas Jones. Mangini is building his franchise exactly the way you suggest, and look at the Jets results the first season under him, as opposed to the results the Cardinals, Raiders, Browns come up with. What looks better: 4-12 to 10-6 or 4-12 to 5-11? Excelent question.
I would go O-line to answer your question ..... but i would draft Defense and fix a scheme on Offense if i ran a team.
I can understand a team with a high pick grabbing the best available player. The key is to let these hot young quarterbacks sit on the bench for a year or two while the O-line is being constructed for them. Let some 38-year-old journeyman QB take the shots and knocks while your high profile rookie is reading the playbook and your GM is out looking for a hotshot left tackle. Notice the Bengals turnaround for example.
in theory, thats a great idea, but let me mention 1 name:

Robert Gallery.

if you mess up once on the o-line, it can be just as costly as messing up drafting a qb. the o-line is best addressed gradually through both free agency and good drafting. that means not all of your linemen need be a first round draft pick, but second, third, and fourth round guys who work their way into being a starter.

however, teams take the qb #1 because lets just face it, there is a severe shortage of great quarterbacks, and there always will be. everybody just wants to be the one who picks the next great qb. the problem comes when you do what the texans did and take the franchise qb and have him start from day 1 behind a crappy o-line. if you take the qb of the future and sit him for a year, you give yourself 2 offseasons to put together 5 offensive linemen who can play together.

so in a roundabout way, the answer to your question is pick the qb high and hire good scouts to find bargains in the draft and among potential free agents on other teams for linemen.

What is the average salary of an NFL referee?

I am having a debate with my SO about how much NFL ref's make? If you know the breakdown of the salary of ref's vs. umpires, etc. that would be great also. Also, do you know if they are part of a union?

The NFL referee salary (National Football League) ranges from USD 25,000 to USD 70,000 per season i.e. a season with 16 games with one-week intervals. The NFL official鈥檚 average annual income of USD 27, 000 is lowest when compared to the NBA officials earn about USD 128,000 per annum, the NHL officials earn USD139, 000 per annum and the major-league baseball officials earn about USD 141, 000 per annum. How to wash an NFL premier jersey without messing up the numbers?

I bought a NFL Premier jersey (otherwise known as a swingman jersey) a year ago. After i washed it the first time the stiched on numbers were damaged. The numbers had creases on them as if the jersey was smashed. How can i was my new premier jersey so I don't run into those same problems. BTW I did not dry the jersey I only washed it in cold water and i hung it up to dry.

Washing in cold is a good start... next turn the jersey inside out before washing. Then dry on the gentle cycle OR better yet dry on a clothes line if available. You could even dry it by putting in on a hanger in front of an open window or hang it from the shower curtain. BUt the inside out trick is one I have used for years with printed tees and jerseys

Who is the worst player in the NFL for 2007?

I can think of several, but a couple have come to mind. Terell Owens for one is the worst because of his controversial remarks regarding Tony Romo's girlfriend Jessica Simpson. The other is Chad Johnson for his on the field antics involving his behavior. Who in your opinion is the worst player this year in the NFL?

Given the talent that he has it would have to be Ocho Cinco. The last pass he dropped in the end zone last weeend has been a signature mark for him this season. Much like TO he plays the blame game but leaves himself out of the equation as being part of the problem.

right is t.o.
Anthony Smith for gauranteeing a Steelers victory over the Patriots. And not only did he not back it up, he was the weakness that was exposed in the Steelers 34-13 loss.
Roy Williams

Michael Vick
Michael Vick, even though he's not playing this year. Pacman Jones, I think you need to be a good citizen or you'll never shine as a player.
Eli Manning is a bust. He has more turnovers than a bakery.

EDIT: Mike Vick isn't even playing this year, so how can he be considered the worst player of 2007?
Ricky Williams
Roy Williams, just can't lean how to tackle within the rules.
Tom Brady lol j/k
Ricky Williams
mike vick

2 years in jail

thats all i have to say
Ricky Williams
T.O. can't be the worse just because of an opinion of his. Chad Johnson is closer than T.O.

I would have to say someone like Joey Harrington, who proves time and time again that he is a backup.

Or Alex Smith for a horrible season...when he is actually healthy. He had more weapons around him this year than last year and he is far worse this year.
It's a tie between Roy Williams (of Dallas) and Michael Vick.

TO may be a loud mouth...but his numbers are impressive this year---and he should not be considered the "worst player" in the NFL.
Roy Williams

he is a joke and can't get one NFL rule.

weak in pass protection and in rules learning......
Dunno.
id say anyone on the miami dolphins :)
Do you mean as a player or personal life issues? The worst team....Miami Dolphins. . . . .. as far as personal life issues...Michael Vick and of course, Terrell Owens.
calvin johnson is a bust
i say vick.
Michael Vick
Joey porter should of never left the steelers
Grossman
The one that can't play because he's in jail for hanging dogs. Pretty hard to run a touchdown when you're BEHIND BARS!! HA HA HA
Got to throw Pacman Jones into the conversation.

Vick is my front runner.
Jessica Simpson.. everyone said that she caused Cryboys to lose and she wasn't even on the field...

How do points work in the NFL for quarterbacks?

Tomlinson had 30 touchdowns thus equalling 180 points and the new NFL record which beat Paul Hornung's 176. Paul Hornung got his 176 on 15 touchdowns, 15 field goals, and 41 extra points; he also threw for two touchdowns but they do not include them in his point total. Why not?. Why don't quarterbacks like Marino and Manning count? 48 and 49 touchdowns should be 288 and 294 points repsectively and the NFL record by far. I have looked all over the internet for an answer but I could not find an explanation anywhere.

How do points work in the NFL for quarterbacks?nba playoff bracket

The reason why QB TD record doesnt count as most points because that gives them a distinct advantage over other players. Technically speaking, a throwing TD is much more common than a rushing TD or any other TD (like defensive or special teams), so if the point record allows QB points, then I am pretty sure QB is gonna dominate in there. Also there is the concept that when QB throws for a TD, its actually two touchdowns, one for the QB and one touchdown for the receiver, (both of them recieved a TD in their stats), but rushing TD only gives the TD to the RB, not to anyone else.

Furthurmore, a QB has around 5-10 recievers on a team, so technically to make it fair, all the QB touchdowns should be divided by the number of eligible recievers if we are to make QB touchdown points count, since its not fair if a QB throws 4 TD in a game to 4 different recievers, the QB gets 24 points, but each reciever gets only 6.

I hope I cleared it up for you

How do points work in the NFL for quarterbacks?nba trade rumors ,nba teams

Yea, technically a QB doesn't score any touchdowns, unless he rushes. He throws to the guy that scored the touchdown.

yes the refs are very bad this year. Just look at the bengals and ravens in week one the ravens would of won if it weren't for a refs horrible call.
YES they have. I'm watching the Steelers game and seeing BAD calls that have really hurt the Steelers. For example that first TD by the Cardinals. HE NEVER HAD POSSESSION, he had in in both hands just long enough to drop it, that should be incomplete pass. Then that Fumble the Steelers recovered. The guy was on top the Cardinals player when he picked up the ball and then ran it in, that was a TD. He was NEVER down by contact, which I'm guessing is what they were calling it. So if that was a TD, as it should have been, it would have been 14-7. Ben's interception into the endzone would have never happened.
i've seen worse years. i thought it really all began with the steelers/seahawks super bowl. last year was a continuation to it, thought it was pretty bad. this year, i dont think it has been too bad. i've seen a couple bad calls, but not enough to really change the outcome of the game. there was the bad call not charging tommie harris for offsides against san diego, but SD still won anyways. i havent seen too many bad calls or even questionable calls.
Well, actually, if one team has lost, they have caused the other team to win. Guess it depends on which team you like.

Officials are human. They make mistakes. That's why there is instant replay. There are also limits to how many times the coaches can use instant replay so they don't use it every time a play runs.
Think of it this way, They are also causing teams to win.

Why do the Steelers consistantly have the best linebackers in the NFL?nba fights

I think fans of different teams around the league would argue with you there. Defensive Schemes, Schedule, and defensive play calling all have a lot to do with the way stats are accrued. That being said, there are several great linebackers in the league that consistently put up good numbers and they all don't reside with the Steelers. Don't get me wrong, they've had some studs over the years (From Lambert to Kirkland), but so have the Chargers, Bears, Ravens, Giants, KC, Tampa Bay, Denver, etc.

The Giants have more Hall of Fame linebackers than the Steelers;

Harry Carson 1976-1988

Lawrence Taylor 1981-1993

Sam Huff 1956-1967, 1969

The Beasr and Chiefs are tied with the steelers at two.
Pittsburgh has usually looked for more guys to be on defense.

But right now, you guys do not have a lot of good linebackers... actually, who DO you have????
they dont. there backs actually sucks compared to the steelers of the 70's. the chargers, pats, and tampa bay all have better linebackers

I just want a brass band playing some John Phillip Sousa

What the heck is up with the musical acts they book for NFL events?nba news ,nba teams

Yep. Do remember though! These are the people who hire the Rolling Stones, Prince and Paul McCartney for the Super Bowl.
Due to the fact that the "pre-game crap" is in Indianapolis, Indiana--John Mellencamp--an Indiana musician--is the headliner. Faith Hill is to appeal to the "country music" fans--a large percentage of Americans, plus she's attractive. Kelly Clarkson appeals to the pop culture/ pop music "young adult/teen" crowd. Also, if you listened to any of the local coverage, you would've heard an up-and-coming rock band called Hinder. They were actually very good. Lighten up. It's just some fun before the NFL season. It's not some kind of personal vindetta against fans of rock or rap. It's just a way to celebrate the Colts superbowl win one last time and to celebrate the kick off to the season. It should be a very fun game to watch--after all, FOOTBALL is what it should all be about--NOT the music. That's my opinion anyway.
Because most of the people that attend these events are middle to upper class white professionals and they don't want their children listening to rap music. Janet Jackson was the last black performer they will have for a while and what did she do to screw it up for the race, she flashed a little breast.
Yes, I agree. However, the league is trying to attract people from other "market segments" hoping that they will watch the game as well and get addicted to the hype and game action. I guess they are trying to get more women and teenagers to follow the NFL. They already know that their target audience will be tuned in no matter who is performing.
lol I agree with you, they should get Akon, Kanye West and the RHCP.
You are a Roy Orbison fan and you want to hear a rapper? I don't get that either.
Rock is an american genre of music.. the NFL is an american game... Why can't they put the two together? and btw.. a man watching football doesn't really want to see Faith Hill do they?

Talk about a slump. Yes, he only played 14,12 and 14 games the last 3 years and played all 16 the first year, but that does not make up for the huge chunks of missing stats.

How long should Belichick be suspended from the NFL?

With the emergence of these new eight illegal videotapes going back all the way to the Patriots' 2000 season, it is very likely Belichick will face suspension from the NFL. We all know he got away with a slap on the wrist the first time around, so what should be his new punishment? One year suspension? Five years? Life?

How long should Belichick be suspended from the NFL?nba free agents

The Pats legacy is now tainted. The team of the 00's reputation is ruined. I wouldn't even call it a dynasty or even give them the privilege of being a team of the decade, for this decade there was no stand-out team because the Patriots cheated them out of the opportunity. I think Belicheck should be suspended for a year.

How long should Belichick be suspended from the NFL?nba logo ,nba teams

Well considering the fact that Matt Walsh put off meeting with Roger Goodell until May 13th I'd say it's all but obvious that he has nothing and he is spending this time trying to find something to make his allegation legit. He is nothing more than a disgruntled former employee trying to get his name in the headlines. Then again to answer your question... nothing new has been proven so he shouldn't be suspended at all until something is brought forth.
I agree with another poster, although they won't be forced to give those titles back. I think he should get something real severe as to make an example to the rest of the league, not just a slap on the wrist.
He can stay if he gives all rings back. He owes Martz and Warner a ring. go rams.! yeah!

go figure, its boston after all.
Matt Walsh had a tape of the Steelers 2001 AFC Championship game so there is no telling what other championship tapes he has (hint, hint) Belicheat should be fired and never allowed to coach for the NFL again
Life. Once a cheater, always a cheater. I know you've all heard that saying before.
He should run for president.
He should never be allowed to coach again. Robert Kraft is a pansy for not firing him!
Forever, and I'll even kick his butt for you if you'll come over!
for life!!
I doubt anything will happen. All these tapes only showed that he was taping signals. There was no taping of the walkthrough. If I remember correctly Belichick told Goodell that he taped before. He was already punished and thats that.
They already took away their 1st pick. That's enough for me.

charge $20 to enter have players pick the winner of every game each week with them guessing the score of the monday night game as tiebreaker---take 50% of money and give it to whoever wins the most weeks at end of season and the other 50% gets broken up into a weekly prize for whoever gets the most correct games each week or wins tiebreaker---it works for no matter how many people wanna play
Yo here is a list of the weeks games show me the money!
Let yahoo do all the work for you and just create a free Fantasy football league and have everyone sign up.

Yahoo makes it very easy.
See if there is interest for making weekly picks on games for a fee, say - $5. If there is interest, simply make copies of the schedule for the week, have a date where everything has to be turned in and then it's the payouts....maybe have a game within a game, where a certain percentage is held back each week for a prize to the one who has the most correct over the entire season.
Jus get everyone who wants to play together. print out schedule of the weeks games, place bets to see who guesses the most games correctly and if there is a tie go by who came closest on scores. you can either do it weekly or wait til end of season to determine winner

Will the NFL allow a franchise outside of the US anytime soon?

Currently the NFL is having games in England and the Bills are talking about Toronto. Do you think the NFL in a few years would consider allowing Canada or even a European city to have a team?

Do you think they should?

Will the NFL allow a franchise outside of the US anytime soon?nba hoops

Football is only so popular in Canada, and they have the CFL to compete against already, so I dont think it makes sense for the NFL to go there. Mexico has soccer, and Im not convinced an NFL team would do well there (MAYBE in Mexico city, but it hard to tell). For Europe- I hope not. It just doesnt make sense to have teams traveling that far. Its a lot to deal with the travel as it is, but when you go that far, you realy have to adjust to the time change and all. For any team based there, playing 8 road games a year would be a killer. I just dont think it makes sense, personally.

Will the NFL allow a franchise outside of the US anytime soon?nba 2k7 ,nba teams

I do not think that they should. Canada has it's own league and travel to and from Europe would not be very reasonable for any team.

If the people in Europe really wanted a football franchise, then NFL Europa would have been a success. But it wasn't making money....and that's why it's gone.
No, not until there is a team in Los Angeles!
I don't think that any country in Europe has a chance at an NFL team anytime in the near future. First of all, there's not nearly as much of a market there. Remember NFL Europe anyone? If we do go international, chances are that we go with Canada. Also, with a European team, travel times would be ridiculous and extrememly unfair to that European team, as they will have to play across the Atlantic atleast 8 times per year. No way, Europe will ever get an NFL team.
An NFL team in Europe won't happen. I think it's something like a 5 hour time difference between London and New York, plus its a 6 hour flight. Can you imagine how rough it would be on either team if London were to play San Diego? They'd spend an entire day on a plane just going there and coming back. Its not going to happen.

An NFL team could happen in either Canada or possibly Mexico though. I think that Toronto, Mexico City or Monterray could all be possible sites if the NFL wanted to expand outside the United States. It probably won't happen soon (next 3-5 years) but further down the line its a possibility. However, I do think the most plausible scenario for it to happen would be if the NFL were to straight up add teams. I don't realistically see any current NFL teams moving out of the US. There are still plenty of place inside the country that want teams like LA or Vegas.

How long will the Bills organization and the NFL pay for Evertt's medical care?

I know the NFL has been accused of shafting their players from past era's in the health care and benefits area. Evertt was a back up so compared to other sports players he wasnt making much or atleast not enough to support him for the rest of his life, which he will likely need. I am sure the NFL will find some way to weasel out of this but should they be able to? He was hurt on the job.

How long will the Bills organization and the NFL pay for Evertt's medical care?nba logo

First, the union rules covering this young man are completely different than those covering the guys from yesteryear that are rightfully upset.

The NFL will cover his expenses as long as the union contract says they have to. I don't know the specifics. This could certainly be viewed as a 'workman's comp' injury and their insurance carrier may be required to cover him for life.

The teams that are family owned(like the Bills) have a reputation of better player treatment.

Do you remember a player for the Lions named Mike Utley? Similar injury and circumstances. He remains paralyzed from the waist down. The Ford family kept him on the payroll for several years after he was heathly enough to work. One he gained a pension he re-retired and used to run a program for disabled kids.

Why so few black head coaches in the NFL and college football?

Black players make up the majority of athletes in the NFL and yet so few hold head coaching jobs. Is it racism? I hate to play the race card but there are less than 5 incollegefootball [119 teams] and about 5 in the NFL. Why do good black football coaches seem to get the short straw everytime?

Why so few black head coaches in the NFL andcollegefootball?nba tickets

the last estimate i have seen is that blacks make up 75% of the nfl players. the only reason i can see as to why there isn't any more black coaches is that there were so few of them getting any experience as a coordinator either offense or defense. just because you play football doesn't mean that you'll be a good coach. but i see the trend changing as more and more opportunites are available to blacks being coordinators and getting some of that experience that they need to become a head coach.

Why so few black head coaches in the NFL andcollegefootball?nba fights ,nba teams

I think everything should be based totally on merit and not skin color. I look forward to the day when that is not even an issue anymore.
Racism is part of it. I am going to venture to say that the overwhelmingly vast majority of the NFL's team owners and administration are white. People in charge tend to hire people of their same race. A predominately white adminstration is likely to bring in far more white applicants.
ok its fine and dandy to say coaches should be hired based on merit and not ethnicity. thats true. i agree with that statement but white people forget a lot of the coaches in power now havent merited the positions that they are in currently. no african american coach has ever come close to winning a NC incollegefootball. you think of the major football universities there arent any black coaches. there is at least a 5-10 coach turnover every year and statistically white coaches have been hired. Ty Willingham at Wasshington was fired after there years at Notre Dame. Charlie Weiss has been there three years already and everbody saw the dismal year Notre Dame had in 2007. Last year the Superbowl for the first time featured not one but 2 African-American coaches. The rule in the NFL is the teams must openly interview at least one minority candidate for each opening. Well the Dolphins got around the rule. They interviewed a minority but everyone in the league knew who the person that had in place to be the next coach already. So basically teams go to the motion of hiring black coaches without even the intent on hiring them at all. its more a less of a song and dance because you cant compell a team to hire a minority.
well i playcollegeball and our coach is black (im white) and the refs call so many penalties against us, not the normal "the refs are unfair" i mean they call dumb stuff like offensive PI and def holding. we got on average 20 flags a game. . . so in answer ... its the refs that are racists, at least in my conference.
I think we'll start seeing more black coaches as more and more black players retire and stick around to coach. I think that it shouldn't matter, and whoever the best man is, should be the coach. If there were only 5 white coaches in the league, people would complain about that. The media has made society this way. It's too bad.
because the white man want to keep the brother down***
I really hate the race card too. People are just people and color should have NOTHING to do with ability. Having said that, I think there are just more white coaches available right now than black coaches. And any team wanting to win will get the best coach available regardless of color.
things take a long time. 15 years ago you didnt see many black assistant coaches or co-ordinators. and now you see a lot more its becoming more and more common. as the pool of black assistants at the top level grows there will start to be more black head coaches hired. reallycollegeAthletic directors and nfl general Managers get paid way too much for them to not hire the best candidate based on their skin color. that would be job suicide

also when you say 119collegeteams you need to understand at most of those 119 colleges they don't have the job turnover rate they do at the BCS and NFL levels. until recently it was not uncommon for acollegehead coach to stay with 1 team for 20 years or more
For the most part I think schools and NFL teams are past the bias of the earlier years. If they have the opportunity to get a well qualified coach, they will hire him whether he be White, Black, Latino, Middle Eastern, or Asian. Abilities as a coach cannot be and are not defined by his color. Yes there are a far greater number of white coaches at the higher levels, but thats because they were the best for the job when the interviews were taking place. Things will balance out sooner or later. Like you said black players make up a majority of the NFL, they are the most respected anyway, I dont think I've ever seen anyone walk down the street wearing a Don Shula shirt, or kids saying they want to be just like Joe Paterno when they grow up.
Well, I don't know. Not everyone in all of football (college and NFL) is racist. It's weird how it is like that, but I'm sure it'll change with time.
You hate to play the race card? If you hated to do that, you wouldn't be the tenth person to ask this question this month. Everything always seems to be about race if a black coach isn't given the head coaching job after his mandatory Rooney Rule interview. Monday is Martin Luther King Day, maybe you should call up Al Sharpton and play the race card on National TV about the injustice in the world? Why can't it once be about the coaching background of a person and not race that gets someone a job?
Part of it is a lack of good candidates.

Part of it is probably that a lot of owners and administrators are old. Old people tend to be more racist than younger generations. The only thing that bothers me is when career failures get 3rd and 4th chances before a black coach gets one shot. (Wade Philips, Norv Turner, Dave Wannstedt)

I'm not a racist, and I don't care about being politically correct. I have mixed feelings on the Rooney rule. It's good, but at the same time I don't like having rules that favor black people. The government does the same thing. Blacks have all the same opportunities as everyone else plus more. I couldn't get a dime forcollegebecause I'm a white male with married parents. I've had enough of the race card being pulled for anything because it's not justified.
It's kinda disturbing trend.. and I've notice that White head coach would last longer than the Black head coach.. It's terrible but it's true..
We haven't had a black president or vice president either. These things take years to happen where it'll be more equal.

Why is it important that the world be told about NFL players not being at home for Thanksgiving?

NFL players make millions of dollars and we have troops in the military who make less than $1,500 a month who leave there famiies for many more holidays. Not to mention the anniversaries and birthdays. How can you feel sorry for these people, they play a game and no bullets or bombs are around.

It's call publicity. It goes along with that United Way motto of caring is sharing or whatever it is. The NFL wants people to think that football players are making sacrifices just because they're not spending Thanksgiving with their families.

I whole heartedly agree with you that it's a joke that the NFL makes it seem like it's such a big sacrifice that football players don't get to spend the holiday with their families because they have to play a game.

Ever watch Invincible? There is your answer. Going tocollegeis simply the best way to improve ones game, and to get recognition, without which it is doubtful any of the scout would even notice someone. Even some of those who did not go tocollegehad to play years in the CFL or Arena football to get seen.

So while it is technically possible to play in the NFL without college, the odds against are astronomical (remember, even the vast majority who do playcollegeball never make the pros). The liklihood is, if one were good enough to have a shot, somecollegescout would have noticed and offered a scholarship.
dont listen to the rhodeisland whatever..she has no clue what she is talking about..there is an age limit in the nfl and all their players have gone to college..you must finish a certain amount ofcollegein order to play..team tryouts are usually by invitation, which are people who have already been in the league
It's possible, but highly unlikely. Some NFL teams do hold open tryouts but it's not every year. Without playingcollegefootball your chances of ever making the NFL are almost non-existant.
I think you would have to be that once in a life-time person and player wrapped all up in a strong body.I don't think a kid coming straight out of high school to the NFL would work ,a kid is just not mature enough, mentally or physically.
yes its been done to skipcollegebut u have to be really really good and be noticed through your high school career im not sure about the tryouts but years ago my brother in law was noticed in high school by a scout unfortunately he chose to get married instead of pursuing it now he plays semi pro for the rhode island raptors one thing you should know though if you choose football over college-what will you do if you get seriously injured and can never play football again and say its early and you arent making the big bucks my son had a choice to play football and he chose to go tocollegeand learn a career good luck
Those days are over.

Yes, it's conceivable that there would be an NFL strike and strike-breakers would have a chance to try out...like in the 80s.

But even then when I tried out...I was told I better have my degree finished if I wanted to continue playing.

No I never saw a contract that said 4 year degree required.

But yes, it was clear that sustainment with the pros required an education.
You can, but you have to be really super good. It's been done before.
yes a movie was made on this earlier this year or late last year the guy was from Philly.
Can you make it without going to college? I'm honestly not sure, but you would have to have done something to make you worthy of getting an invite - maybe being an olympic quality track and field star or something of the sort.

There are a few players in the NFL who did not play football in college, but they were allcollegeathletes to the best of my knowledge. Basketball players have been transitioning to the NFL at tight end (Antonio Gates - he played basketball, not football in college). I remember reading a couple articles about somecollegewrestlers who had an invite to try out for the Jets (I want to say his name is Cole Konrad?), but I don't know how they did. The NFL is always looking for excellent athletes, and converting them from other sports takes some time, but in some cases (See Antonio Gates), it is definitely worth the investment.
i think you can
For someone not going tocollegeyou will have to be out of high school for 4 years. Is it possible yes. But NFL teams dont hold open tryouts anymore so it is very unlikly.
ya u can get in the NFL with only going to high school and not going to collage.
I think you can if your good enough. I know that undrafted players make teams ( MIKE BELL BRONCOS ). I would have to say YES.

So your "Texas has too many teams" jive doesn't hold no water if yer calling for a team in LA.

LA will get the next expansion, though. Biggest city in the USA population-wise, and no NFL franchise? They used to have 2 for chrissakes.
San Antonio is one of the largest cities in the nation and certainly goes all out to support progressive economic efforts...They have been wanting an NFL franchise as long as I remember...there have been many rumors including the owner of the vikings moving them to SA( i don't recall his name)....He lives in SA but I really don't think that will ever happen....someday maybe but I don't think SA will get a team anytime soon. And I agree with the above poster....SA is Cowboys country...big time!
Their too many Cowboys fans in Texas to bring another team there and you guys also got the Texans...The Florida Marlins were considering moving to San Antonio before they got permisson to build a new stadium in Miami so they could lure a baseball team there.
Well, rather than look at the glass as half empty, you can look at it as half full. You are the only place with a polygamous compound.
NFL is tough, they have to give something to L.A. first. MLB, they have to boult a brand new stadium for that first.

hmm crummiest franchise would belong to any of the teams yet to hoist the lombardi trophy, my friend! patriots franchise will not be found on that list. so you are as wrong as can be. have a nice day!
Back when Hannah played for some lousy teams there were fans in the frigid stands cheering. Back when some of their detractors were not even a thought in their mommy's mind...

there were fans cheering!!!!!
All is correct. Except for the diehards from mA
Please think before you type. We get it. You don't like the Patriots. Fine. Nobody said you had to. They are far from the worst or crummiest team in the NFL. There are teams that have never won a superbowl. There are teams that have never been to a superbowl. There are teams with less history because they are newer to the league.
You dont know anything about "die-hards from MA". I am guessing you know nothing about MA in general. For your informtion, there is a very large fan base which supported the Patriots before they became one of the greatest teams ever. I hardly see how that is crummy. And what is a 14 year losing streak? "Recent" winning streak?....3 super bowls isnt bad pal. for any team. Check the facts, the stats, etc and do it without emotion clouding your judgement. Every team has bandwagon fans, especially the good ones.
no.the recent n.e. winning streak has been going on for what 7 years now?in your opinion what constitutes a good nfl franchise if 3 superbowl wins doesnt?

but this is just another example of how the pats fans are just a bunch of bolony,

they should like a team becuase the team is respectable, classy, great history, legendary (respectable)players/coaches/ stadium,

none of which the pats have
They are definitely the most controversial..and to add, some of their wins have been some of the worst playing in their franchise record...so they aren't ALL THAT. Sorry, stats don't lie.
Hmm, when people bring up the past, people go crazy! But when a team's history is bad, it's suddenly OK to revert to the past?

If you want to live in the 1980's with spandex, long hair and own a big bulky cell phone, be my guest. We'll continue being fans of the 21st century New England Patriots.
I have to say you probably no nothing about the state or its teams by asking such a questiona s that. I am a MA born and raised New England sports fan of 27 years. my Mother was a fan when they first joined the NFL officially in 1960. Stop whining because your team either lost to them or because your team has not won a Trophy. Patriots have history and are making history now. I cheered for them in 1990 then they went 1-15. Now even letting other know what team your rooting for says that either your too scared to tell us or that you don't even understand what true football fans are.
Total BS. Patriots already have 3 SB and always in the playoffs.

Why dont you shove your crummy in to where it belongs.
Well, in the past seven or so years, they've won 3 and been the only team to repeat. So I guess that's what makes them suck. And the fact that they're 17-0, likely to go 19-0. Yeah, I can see where that would make them look so worthless and untalented. And having Tom Brady, easily one of the best ever, also makes them suck. And Randy Moss, too. He sucks also.

What, are you from Jacksonville or something and you're still crying about Saturday?
