What does it mean in NFL football if someone is dropped to waivers or picked up off of waivers?

If someone is dropped from a team and they are a free agent, what is the difference between that person and a person that was never drafted into the NFL? What do you have to do to be eligible to play for a team in the NFL?

some team shold open tryouts, a couple of walk-ons have made it to the NFL, usually talented athletes who did not go tocollegeor dropped out and went undrafted

drafted just means that no other team is allowed to talk to you or try to sign you for a full year; doesn't mean that you made the team at all

waivers I am not that sure about: I do know there is a certain time period after which the original team can sign the player again (if no other team has picked up the waiver)

If a player is a free agent, then he can negotiate for another contract with any team. If he's on waivers, then in order for another team to get him, they have to get him at whatever his contract was with the team that cut him.

There is no difference between a free agent and an undrafted player. The only thing signficant is the free agent has proven what he can do in the NFL while the undrafted one isn't.

The only thing you have to do to be elligible is be 3 years out of high school.
