NFL players make millions of dollars and we have troops in the military who make less than $1,500 a month who leave there famiies for many more holidays. Not to mention the anniversaries and birthdays. How can you feel sorry for these people, they play a game and no bullets or bombs are around.

It's call publicity. It goes along with that United Way motto of caring is sharing or whatever it is. The NFL wants people to think that football players are making sacrifices just because they're not spending Thanksgiving with their families.
I whole heartedly agree with you that it's a joke that the NFL makes it seem like it's such a big sacrifice that football players don't get to spend the holiday with their families because they have to play a game.
